Today young gamers are exposed to a ‘wild west’ environment on entering the world of online gaming, where they may be exposed to inappropriate content or undesirable behaviour from other gamers. Gamers are also currently finding games, tournaments and people to play and build teams with through a completely open online platform, game lobbies or word of mouth.
The challenges we face involved understanding how to solve and improve on the following: authentication, improving online safety, delivering compelling experiences, and improving parental understand and sentiment towards gaming & Esports.
Providing a safe and secure environment for young gamers was integral to our product. Partnering with a coaching company, we implemented educational incentives such as badges for our users; a familiar reward system in the gaming industry. This also enables our users to strive to achieve and build up accolades to share with their peers.

Leveraging IBM's Carbon Design System, we adopted the methodology of theming to enable accelerated design and build phases. This enabled different Esports Federations' branding to be applied and built without building custom components everytime.
